Description
Powerline is a sunny wall with great rock quality. It is often subjected to death by top rope on the many 5.10 sport routes clustered close together. Most are slightly less than vertical on sharp crimps and jugs, and there are a couple crack climbs. The wall dries fast but can be a little windy occasionally.
To the left of Powerline are a few other rock bumps hidden in the trees, with several top rope, gear & bolted climbs. These are wind protected and shady, but are often slimy after rain.
The Cirque is a dramatic cliff below the main Powerline Wall with some uniquely exposed climbs.
Lethal Weapon, Intimidator & False Impressions are some of Erie's classic moderate sport routes, Green Thumb at Crack Wall is a historic 5.7 crack, and Lord of Creation is an extremely exposed bolted route for the grade.
Getting There
Take the Sunset Trail a few minutes west from the parking lot junction, then turn right when above the cliffs. A class 2-3 ramp (treacherous when wet but otherwise easy) leads diagonally down to meet the Sunset Trail again. Go west for Crack Wall and east for the main Powerline Wall, and the junction with the Cirque trail.
