Access Issue: Possibly closed. Details

Be sensitive of the house up hill and around one of the boulders. as Prescotts homlessness rises I have seen shanties back in the boulders so watch out. i have also seen used needles on the ground, what ever that means

Access Issue: Boulders are located on mall owned property. Details

Description

Big Boulder is a huge, overhanging, black-streaked boulder hidden by oak trees on an elevated piece of land behind the Walmart store at the mall. Lots of features on its overhanging south side.Two problems are known, although there's potential for a few others. Kind of tall with mixed landings, some have been levelled. Pads or TR. Other easier problems on a nearby dark boulder and slabs to the right. Lots of problems on the jumble of boulders on the hill behind too. Many have overhanging aspects.

Getting There

Several approaches. The easiest is to hike up the talus wall behind Walmart and follow an old social trail at the base of the large walls that can be seen from the mall. The trail bends left around a bunch of trees that hides the main boulders. Big Boulder itself is mostly hidden, but you'll know when you see it. A tree wraps around the left side of the overhang. Some bushwhacking to get around. You can also approach from the Super Crack area to the west. Everything is on private property. Far from homes and somewhat hidden, but try not to be obvious.
