Description
This crag is an 8 minute walk uphill from the Evergreen trailhead, is south-facing, and a great winter or shoulder-season spot with some decent potential. There are several older routes here developed by Rob Birtles, with more being developed now. This crag is not currently in the Skaha guidebook.
As the story goes, this crag was named for the low-paying corporate giant Walmart after Rolf had just finished shooting a commercial touting “geriatric supplements” for the company.
Getting There
Make sure to park near the trailhead on a side street, and not in front of any homes. Walk through the yellow gate and directly uphill just to the right of the two pump houses. Follow the more worn trail as it climbs uphill and slightly southeast until you reach the first plateau. Then veer left off the trail and follow a faint trail left, up and northeast back towards the gully. You will then walk into the small trees towards the cliffs. The trail is not very established but wind your way uphill past several boulders and then to the first cliffs. There are several old trad and mixed climbs here and one bolted line. The trail continues uphill under a large roof to the upper end of the crag where you will find Punk Rock, with three harder .11+/.12 routes.
