Description Suggest change

This is a great area for beginners, kids, and anyone wanting to work on skills in a friendly setting. The routes are short but fun and, hey, close enough to town to get a few quick burns after work even in the winter time. This is thought to be one of the first areas developed on Monument Road. I talked with people when researching the guidebook that remembered climbing here in the '70s but knew of some that were here before them. Originally there were bolts on the top of the cliff band, and one could walk up and set up a TR . This was always private property, but the owners never seemed to care until they decided to develop the land. There are now houses on top, and if you top out, you'll be in someone's back yard. Please respect them, and stay below the cliff line - every route is easy enough to set up without toping out.

Note: in 2016, all new stainless hardware was put in by myself and Jose from the Mesa County Search and Rescue Tech Team. The routes were made leadable as sport routes when necessary at this time, and all the anchors were placed on the face, so you don't need to top out. Posts in the comments for this section about manky anchors prior to 2016 are now out of date.

Getting There Suggest change

From the "Bullet Hole Boulder" and "Overhang Boulder", there is a trail off to the left that takes you past most of the other boulders in the Bullet Hole Main Area before leading up to this area. Many people head straight up the bentonite hill which is steep and loose, but the footprints disappear just about every time it rains, so this really doesn't hurt anything.
