Description Suggest change

While technically not on Mt. Potosi itself, since this cliff is directly across the street from the turnoff for Mt. Potosi Canyon and the Mt. Potosi canyon crags right there, it makes sense to include it a sub-area of Mt. Potosi. Cactus Joes is a south facing cliff that gets all day sun and has a nice range of grades from 5.8 to hard 5.12. There aren't a ton of routes, and it's certainly not a destination crag, but it is a fun little area to check out for a day or two if you are looking for warmth and sun or if the sandstone at red rock is wet.

Getting There Suggest change

Head out of Vegas on Blue Diamond (Route 160) to Mt. Potosi Canyon Road which is 8.2 miles past the 159 junction toward red rock. Turn left onto the Mt. Potosi Canyon road and park right at the start of it. Head west up the shoulder of the road staying on the south side of the fence until you reach a cement canal with ladders going down into it.  Climb down into the canal and walk up the canal and through the tunnel that takes you across the road coming out ~100 feet before the cairn marked trail leading up to the crag.  Once at the trail, follow the steep well marked trail up to the crag for about 20 minutes which will deposit you on the left hand side of the crag.
