Access Issue: Road and Raptor Closures Details

Description

This wall so desperately wants to be like the other steep and tall formations around it, but it lacks a bit in height. The rock is very similar to Hole In The Wall but shorter and more vertical than overhanging. If it were twice the height, it would feature some of the best moderate climbing at Devil's Head, but it is still a fun wall to visit for those looking for amazing patina, sculpted jugs, and even some consistent cracks. The crag features a mix of trad and sport routes, although individual routes tend to be either pure sport or pure trad. A single rack to a #3 or 4 Camalot is recommended, although most trad route anchors could be accessed from sport routes that climb the faces between cracks. The wall faces north and has a nice staging area, making it great for families or new climbers looking for a shady spot to climb on the hottest days of summer.

Getting There

From Jackson Creek, take the Devil's Gate trail until a signed fork in the trail. The left fork continues up to Devil's Gate, while the right fork takes you to the Fall Wall, Teapot, Laboratory, and Imitation Wall. As you walk up past the Fall Wall and Teapot, a corridor up to the right is the north-facing wall of the Laboratory. Turn left here, and make your way up a small saddle. Drop down the other side of the saddle, and the north-facing wall of the Imitation Wall will be on your left. Expect an approach time around 45 minutes.
