Description
After the revolution in 2011, Tunisia became more open to rock climbing. Currently there is one climbing gym in Tunisia, ClimbIn, which is located in La Soukra. There is also a growing community of outdoor climbers.
At present (2022), there are two main areas to climb, both of which are easily accessed by car from Tunis:
- Djebel Ressas: Just 30 minutes outside the capitol city, Djebel Ressas offers several crags with sport routes as well as a few high quality bouldering areas.
- Zaghouan: The premier climbing destination in Tunisia. Thanks to a variety of equippers, both Tunisian and European, Zaghouan has over 100 routes including multipitch, trad, and sport. There is also some bouldering here.
