Description
Public park in the city limits of Heber Springs. There is also a fun disc golf course in the park now.
Please Note: Mossy Bluff is in no way a destination crag - nor will it ever be. The rock here is highly varied from soft and friable to bullet hard. This is an awesome climbing resource for any climbers living around Heber Springs or visiting Greers Ferry Lake/Little Red River and finding themselves in the area for other reasons.
Mossy Bluff is managed by the Army Corp of Engineers. Entry is free and climbing/trail use is allowed 24/7. If you are a local (or anyone else visiting) you have access to 70+ boulder problems that will test your core and finger strength from V0 up to ~V9 with a few V-Double digit projects - all within the city limits of Heber Springs. Be careful of poison ivy, loosing to much skin on sharp iron crimps, occasional high highball topouts, some sketchy hillside landings, and most importantly soft sandy rock in several sections.
Not sounding like something that will get you psyched, well this place probably ain't for you.
Bring some brushes and be prepared to clean and re-brush boulders. This place is aptly named Mossy Bluff and without lots of traffic, boulders will get clogged back with dirt, moss and leaves and topouts will most likely need reshoveling/brooming to re-groom this area back into submission.
ENJOY!
