Description
Located right on the lakes edge, this area occasionally gets dunked, but stays shady year round. Can be very cold in winter months. Relatively small area, but holds about 6 routes with a few potential projects. Features "Dancing with the Stars V6 highball," "The Rhino," a fun V4 compression problem, and "Bird's Nest Soup V8," a massive 25 foot roof crack begging for more ascents.
Getting There
The first half of the approach is the same for the Mad Max area. Take the Lincoln lake trail from the main parking lot. Follow the switch backs up and around to the access road at the top. Follow the access road for about 10 minutes to where the Lincoln Lake Trail breaks right towards the Mad Max area. Pass this, and continue straight towards a "no camping" sign in the middle of the trail. At the sign, go right on a extremely faint climbers trail (in the summer months it completely disappears under the growth, good luck). Follow this trail for about 200 feet to a class 4 downclimb, or go 100 more feet to a steep hill you can walk down. Once down from the trail (facing the lake) head left along the cliff line. The first recorded problem is located about 30 feet to the climbers right (facing the wall) after the class 4 downclimb.
