Description
Cheers Rock has quick access from nearby Reservoir and Skyline trails on either side and a short walk from nearby parking lots. Parking lots often near or at capacity with dog walkers and other visitors, together with lot opening hours impacting ease of access.
Really, nobody has ever climbed here? It seems likely that many undocumented ascents....
Lichen and moss abound on the rock, almost as much as the broken glass on the ground that inspired the "Cheers" moniker.
The bottom section has roped route opportunities, and there is bouldering on the upper left section as well as around the corner on right side of crag.
There are sharp angles with crimps and some slopers and the occasional jug. Well-defined footholds are common.
The rock is metabasalt hornfels and recrystallized metabasalt with porphyroblasts according to:
