Description
The top of this shorter cliff band is continuous with the top of the tall left end of the main wall, but its base is higher. To get there from the main wall, you can scramble through talus or find a trail further down the slope; either way leads you to a steep trail up to the left end of this tier. Al Rubin's topo (on climbri.org) shows only 3 climbs here, 5.7+ to 5.10+, but several other lines are possible, easier and harder.
Getting There
From base of the Main Face, walk down, around, and back up higher on talus or good trails. You can also approach the Upper Left Tier off a trail that follows the base of the far left cliff band (not on MP). One way to get to the far left cliff band is to turn right instead of left at the top of the Main Face, as accessed from the trail off the upper power line cut (see the directions from Macomber and Upper Palmer Roads on the main page and climbri.org).
From the top of the Main Face, you can trend 20 to 40 feet skier's right, and rappel off a tree. You will land near the start of Left Hook or Bunyan Crack, depending on the tree. These climbs end on ledges below the trail along the top. A band of lichen separate these ledges from the trees at the top. If you lead them, you can rappel off intermediate trees, or possibly walk off or scramble down climber's left.
