Description
White Harlem Wall is one of the only crags in the area with multiple moderate trad routes. The right side is less than vertical. The left side is vertical and more strenuous. Both sides have nice cracks for protection. There is one sport route.
This climbing area is not inside Capitol Reef. Dogs are allowed.
Routes were established by the White Harlem Crew from Cedar City circa 1997-2003. Routes are single pitch and most end on a ledge. Multiple routes share anchors with their neighbor.
Getting There
Take the Cooks Mesa Trail. It starts at the dirt camping area off the highway and walks up a sandy ridge to the flat Mesa. The trail name may not be marked.
This spot is one of the only spots where ther is a gap in the rim rock and ranchers got livestock up and down through the cliff to higher elevation summer pastures.
From the dirt camping area, go up hill until the trail flattens out on the shelf above the first rim rock. Follow the trail along the shelf and take the first gulley up to the right. You can see the slabby looking wall with splitters at the top of the gulley. This is outside the park so dogs are allowed.
See coordinates and an approach overview on one of the beta photos.
