Description
The Catamount Boulders offer a selection of some of the best boulder problems in the Killington area of Vermont on solid rock. There are a wide variety of styles; high balls, slabs, overhangs, slopers, crimps, and jugs. There isn't a huge concentration of boulders but most problems are of high quality.
Guidelines to follow here:
- Be respectful of other hikers, runners, and boulderers
- Don't disrupt the natural ecosystem (as with many areas, we want to preserve as much of it as possible)
- What you bring in, your bring out - NO LITTERING
- Be safe and have fun
Other climbing areas within five minutes: DEKD Killington (bouldering) and Deer Leap (mostly roped climbing)

Getting There
Located just off of the Catamount Trail near Pico Ski Area, you can park at the AT/LT Trailhead Parking lot just downhill. From the parking lot, follow a worn trail that parallels Rt. 4 West and then veers left into the woods. Instead of following the AT/LT, cross the bridge over the river, and veer right on the Catamount Trail (looks like an overgrown logging road). Follow the Catamount Trail uphill for 10-15 minutes. You will come to the top of a small rise and start going down. Go downhill for a hundred feet or so and you should see a small cairn off to the right. Cut right into the woods at the cairn and stay at the same elevation as it as you continue into the woods for 3-5 minutes. The first boulder you will come to is the Catamount Boulder, a stunning 60-degree highball overhang with a couple of high-quality problems. From there, see individual areas for directions.
