Description Suggest change

A nice selection of boulders on a scenic trail in the National Forest between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. A handful of roped climbs ( Buena Vista routes ), as well as a fantastic view, are found on Buena Vista Peak. Summer, fall season is best, when the road is open.

The Buena Vista trailhead is close (~1 mi.) to the Crane Flat Boulders

Getting There Suggest change

Park at the Buena Vista Trailhead parking and hike slightly uphill for 0.5 mi. on the Buena Vista Trail. The trail goes right through some boulders and after passing these, there's more downhill & left, off-trail, towards the road. There's one particular huge boulder that looks like an elephant down near the road, which is visible from the Generals Highway. It has a great looking highball project (20'+) problem on it, that probably goes at V7 or harder. Another nice ~15' boulder is near this one with some V2 - V4 climbing.
