Description
The climbing area is on Stansbury Island, along a band of yellow orange quartzite on the extreme south east end of the island . Routes include traditional and bolted sport climbs with some fixed belay/rappel anchors. Most routes are single pitch on excellent quality rock with a walk off decent or single rope rappel. 5 main areas have been established.
The route information here is in progress and likely has errors and incorrect descriptions but is being actively updated and corrected.
Getting There
Drive I-80 west to second exit for Grantsville and state highway 138, turning west at stop sign. Make way north on good gravel road cutting through the lake bed on an escarpment. Turn east at major "Y" intersection after about a mile and continue east through a maze of dirt and mud roads of varying quality, staying parallel to lake. 4WD may be necessary when wet. Park in flat, grassy area at fenced end of road and walk east through broken gate for 5 - 10 minutes on flat trail to access crags.
This area is also used extensively for target shooting and ATV riding, but does not share any common terrain.
