The Lower Canyon at Saguaro Lake
As you travel up-stream and away from Butcher Jones or the marina area you pass over the main body of the lake. As you head up into the channel you're getting into the Lower Canyon with Lost Whiskey Wall on the right (South). A dozen routes await you on Lost Whiskey Wall on good rock. The next area you'll encounter is the Arete Du Soleil area which currently boasts a single fun 5.10d sport route (but has room for more and a trad line!) After this you'll pass the entrance to Willow Springs canyon on the right and at the entrance to that canyon on the left is the Corner Pockets Area where you'll find plenty of steep jugs. Continuing upcanyon you'll pass another tributary canyon coming in from the right, after this area is the ULC Area where to date no projects have been completed.
The little island of Shiprock is easily distinguishable with a channel marker light on the top of it and represents the end of the Lower Canyon area. From there you travel out of the canyon and into a more open area with lots of reeds and no rocks. If you continue for a couple miles you'll come to Bagley Flat which is a designated boat-in campground operated by the forest service. No fee, two week maximum stay, pack it in pack it out kinda thing. There are pit toilets and picnic tables and they keep it pretty clean.
Above Bagley Flat is a no-wake zone and the lake starts taking on some of the characteristics of the river, it's true nature - and you enter the Upper Canyon.
