Description Suggest change

Abruptly rising above Jackson Creek, Chernobyl is a crag that offers a variety of sport and trad routes. It's a great place to add some extra pitches if climbing at The Emerald or other nearby crags. This crag also offers a fantastic two pitch moderate which provides, arguably, some of the best views at Devil's Head. There is a wide range of climbing styles from crack, offwidth, chickenheads, patinas, along with some pebble pinching. Since the crag faces west, it receives morning shade and afternoon sun. Moreover, this crag does have some steep cliffs nearby, so it may not be suited for small children or dogs.

Getting There Suggest change

To reach the crag, hike to the south prow of The Emerald. Then hike south for ~35 yards to a small weakness in the cliff to the east (39.2564, -105.0897). Scramble on a log into the weakness and then hike east ~20 yards to the base of the southern prow of Chernobyl (39.2564, -105.0893). It's less than 5 minutes from the Emerald.
