Description
NOTE: At present (Feb 2021) this area is being re-organized to allow for ease of addition of future boulders and routes (problems). Four sub-areas are being created (see map) 1) Dead Man's area, 2)Dragon's Lair area, 3)The Strip area, and the 4)Grand Slab area (aka "Home Base") The current boulders and climbs will be placed into the correct sub-area; if this is not known they will be found in the "unassigned area" below the 4 areas. We welcome all the suggestions, help and corrections that you may wish to post (in "page improvements", or "comments" ) or e-mail to me. R Hall
A small granite bouldering area near Freeport Maine. The area has 30+ problems with potential for more and very short approaches. Classics include The Coffin (v7) and Cat Pine Dyno (v4). The granite is sharp and there are many slab and sloper problems.
Getting There
Drive to the intersection of South Freeport Road and Pine Street. There are some obvious visible slabs next to a parking area that can fit about 3 cars. Park there and walk up the road about 300 feet. You will find the first cluster of boulders right on the side of the road. To find the others follow the trails up the hill at an angle and you will come to a number of other clusters. The shortest approach is a minute from the parking and each cluster is 2-3 minutes apart from each other. There are a number of of other boulders on the mountain that are more dispersed but the majority are all near Pine Street.
