Description Suggest change

Northeast-facing slab on Stone Mountain (not the famous one), across the valley from the other Cedar Rock crags. Many of the routes have moss and lichen, and the crag is generally slow to dry. Well described in the Southern Pisgah guidebook.

Getting There Suggest change

As for other Cedar Rock areas, follow the fire road over Low Gap to Butter Gap. Take the Art Loeb Trail to the Butter Gap shelter. Immediately on the right side of the front of the shelter is a seep; take a hard right across it and follow a fairly obvious trail gently downhill for about a quarter mile to the first major drainage. After crossing it, continue about a hundred yards on the trail to where an old log is lying across it. The trail you've been on will start to head left into rhododendrons, but leave it here and start contouring up the hillside to the right. The climbers' trail is very obscure at first but soon becomes more obvious. Follow it up hill to the base of the slab. The guidebook says 35 minutes for the approach, but that time would presume familiarity.
