Description Suggest change

This cliff has only one route on the East end of the Gibson Ridge. Quite a bit there though. Most of the cliff faces north and this area is shady all day. The crag is large and difficult to approach but quite the adventure for folks unafraid to walk for a lonely crag.

Getting There Suggest change

From Phoenix Street's end at the east side of Payson, begin walking on the Cypress Trail for a few yards then take the second right path. Take the second left towards Trail 200. This trail continues past John Rae Dome for about 100 yards then turn left again at a hard to spot trail, Trail 200 Extension. Take this trail east until below a hoodoo I call the A5 Hammer on your left. Some bones mark this spot. Keep going past the Rattle Bone Dome  area too. This trail curves right and uphill a bit. At the photo of Tom Bowker with Easter Island in back is the next extension I call the road to China. If you find this trail, walk below Easter Island until a pointy boulder sits prominently above the trail. Turn right and stay a bit left as you wander uphill through AZ Cypress to a slabby drainage leading up and a bit left of the North Buttress. Cairns are scattered but you will see your objective on approach then lose it until right there.
