Description Suggest change

There are three distinct, small bouldering areas located in the Baiting Hollow/Riverhead area. While lesser known and not as high of quality as well-established areas like East Marion and Wildwood, these climbing areas have several things going for them: short and easy approaches, no access/landowner issues, and wonderful scenery. These areas are great for experienced climbers looking for a quick session or for newer climbers looking for lower graded climbs with friendly landings. Most of these boulders can be climbed without a pad, which makes them a great option for climbers vacationing in the area.

Though not a destination by any means, it's a good option for local climbers to get out on real rock.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need a Town of Riverhead Beach Parking Permit to park legally at these areas. In the past, daily and yearly passes have been offered to non-residents. Check with the Town of Riverhead for the most up to date info.

Getting There Suggest change

Baiting Hollow and Riverhead are two towns located on the eastern end of Long Island, close to the North Fork. Refer to the individual area sections for info on how to reach the different boulders.
