Description

There are two distinct, small bouldering areas located in Baiting Hollow. The better one is located at the end of Roanoke Avenue. From the parking area, walk east. There is a small boulder with a hard sit start on slopey underclings located a little over a tenth of a mile down the beach up on the bluff. Another tenth of a mile leads to another boulder hidden in a hollow in the bluff. Another mile further along is a cool boulder with five or so problems. I would imagine there are other boulders hidden up in the bluffs. This entire stretch of beach is preserved open space so access isn't an issue. You can also drive on this beach if you have a permit. The other Baiting Hollow bouldering area is located off of Edwards Avenue. Walk east to one good boulder with a couple of slabby problems and one good sit start. This area is somewhat high profile.

These areas are close to Wildwood State Park, so they may be worth checking out if you're in the area.

Getting There

Two different areas in Baiting Hollow- one at the end of Roanoke Avenue and one at the end of Edwards Avenue. You need Riverhead beach permits to park at these areas.
