Description
While technically part of the same formation that hosts the Waterfall Wall and the Chunderdome, the Mordwand deserves its own entry as it has a separate approach and unique character. The climbing is on vertical quartzite with crisp edges and features several impressive roofs.
Getting There
Park at the call box just south of the Engineer Pass pullout. Scramble down the talus to a game trail that eventually leads down to the river. There is a tyrolean across the river that works well as a handline during low-water season. From here, a trail contours right around a hummock and leads to a clearing. You will get an eyeful of your destination from here. Continue across the clearing to a steep slope covered in aspen. Scramble as best as you can to the base of the wall.
