Description
Gibraltar Rock is situated in a picturesque open hemlock forest, giving a quiet peaceful vibe. Often shaded at the bottom, this cliff offers some really great intro lines like Blueberry Express (5.7 at 33m) and some stellar 5.12 climbing like Arete Acadienne (2024).
Getting There
Go north on Route 357 from Musquodoboit Harbour for 15.7km (around 12 mins), until you see a sign for Gibraltar Rock Loop trail on the right. Park here and follow the Rail Trail south past the gate for approximately 230m. At this point, you can almost see the crag through the trees on the left. There is no defined trail, just find the path of least resistance and go up the hill. You will stumble on easier terrain as you go up and youll reach the base of the cliff with a wood ladder.
Warm up wall is on the left side with some great trad lines and then there are some stellar routes like Battle of the Bulge (2 pitch 5.10d) off Ladder Ledge.
Move right past the ladder to get to the right side for some 5.12s and another trad line.
