ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Description
This is the true summit of the smith rock group. Although easy to summit, the hike getting there is work enough. This captivating and exposed wall is pretty rotten and doesn’t hold much appeal for the everyday cragger but adventure climbers and trash collectors might find this to be quit pleasant.
Getting There
Hike up the backside via the trail just north of waterfall slab or from asterisk heading south and up. Once on the ridge line, head north until you see the massive northern gully ( between the two main towers). Smith summit is on the right when facing the gully from the top. Walk along the side of the gully toward the summit spire until you reach a sweet hangout spot at the base of it.
