Description
In a beautiful and isolated setting, this picturesque triangle is delicately perched atop a high shoulder of a ridge that separates the two main valleys of the Church Area. The rock is the worst I have encountered but the views are worth the the short and terrifying romp.
Getting There
Park at the turn-around that is used for the Minarets, Organ Pipes, and The Alter Boy Towers (see detailed directions there). Hike in on the cattle trail WNW, until The Church Chimney (aka Chimney Rock) is on your right shoulder and a sand dune has run off the left ridge and almost touches the trail. This is on your left shoulder. Walk up the dune until you reach a Pronghorn trail that runs parallel to the cattle trail below or west. Look for a mylar balloon in a Yucca on your left or a dip in the trail. Cut south over the ridge here and drop down the other side on good rock and easy walking. The Prayer Flag is just west of you here. Car to crag is a bit less than 40 minutes.
