Description Suggest change

Impressive dual caves high up on the hillside above Leonidio. The majority of the climbing is in the more impressive left cave. There are slabby routes to the left of the caves and a few vertical moderates left of the left cave and one between the caves. Overall, though, you'll be stoked if you climb 7b and harder and are looking for stupendous tufa lines.

Rain: The cave climbing stays dry in a rain. The slabby routes are wet. The vertical routes are OK with a few wet sections in a light rain.
Shade: The cave routes get a bit of shade in the morning but not for long. Otherwise, sun most all day. Best for cloudy or cold days.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive the switchbacking road out of Leonidio towards the village of Vaskina. At the last major switchback, look for the sign for Twin Caves. There is parking for about 10 cars on both sides of the road. It gets busy...try to park to save space for others.
Hike the dirt road for a few minutes and turn right up a steep trail to the caves. Approach time is about 10 minutes.
