Description
This region of Maine effectively starts at the border of South Portland and continues down to the New Hampshire border, and stretches into the interior to a parallel of latitude drawn from Sebago Lake. Gently rolling hills dot the interior and the coastal rocks are weathered and ever changing. Densely populated, long stretches of sand beaches attract tourists, especially French Canadian ones, to towns such as Old Orchard Beach in the summertime. Some towns are enclaves of old money while others such as Biddeford show their working class mill town roots.
Interesting rock can be found at occasional seaside locations, and elsewhere for the intrepid.
