Description Suggest change

Bits of excellent climbing interspersed with crud, choss, and enough bushwhacking to make one wonder if it is worth the effort. On top of that, its proximity to the stream makes it a veritable bug-bath in blackfly season. Add the final nail in its coffin, a long, complex approach, and the sparse visitation at this cliff is understandable.
In its favor, the Lab's lower tier enjoys lower temps on those broiling summer days, with plenty of tree shade and the advantage of evaporative cooling from the nearby stream. Include this crag in a backpacking/camping weekend, and its proximity to water and level patches of ground make it a worthwhile destination.
This area used to be known as the Wasted Wall. I explored the cliffs rising up the side of the mountain here in the mid-90s, finding a lot of short, hard, filthy walls separated by slippery, sloping ledges. One could piece together almost 400' of climbing, but it would be piecemeal at best. There are moments of fantastic climbing dotting the heights, but expect some scrabbling between those bits.

Getting There Suggest change

From the Waterfall, walk another 5 minutes along the streambed (there is a good herd path on the ridge opposite the mountain). A large, rectanguloid boulder lies on its longest dimension; at the far side of this block, cut left, cross the creek, and walk the 40' to the cliff base.
