DescriptionThese are a nice little collection of boulders and exposed rock face. These boulders can be seen from the road especially on a fall day when the leaves have come down. This is wooded climbing on gritty monzonitic granite. Bring your tape. A good smattering of problems starting under overhangs.
Private property. Keep it clean and be respectful or access could be lost. Details
Townsend PD came out because of a concerned neighbor. They said it’s perfectly okay to climb there. Again respect the area. Respect the neighbors.
Getting ThereThese boulders are just off of Old Turnpike/Greenville Rd. in West Townsend. There is space for a few cars to park at the turnaround that is directly at the state line. Walk down the road back into Massachusetts, and hop into the woods on the opposite side of the road from where you park. There is an old logging or farm trail that cuts up the hill, but it’s obscured by saplings and may be hard to find. There are no trails, so you’ll have to find the boulders via bushwhacking. They’re visible from the road. You shouldn’t have any problems finding them.
