Access Issue: Mount Charleston Wilderness Area Details
Much of this area is in the Mount Charleston Wilderness Area, learn which crags are within our outside of it before you go. See the BLM Fact Sheetblm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files… for a good overview of what it protects and what that limits, and the Forest Service pagefs.usda.gov/detailfull/htnf… for other information.
A beautiful varied wall that gets shade from mid morning on during the season. Sits on the right side of North Echo at the lowest point of the cliff. Bulletproof rock, incredible chert, smooth blocky roofs, and interesting holds make for some amazing climbing. A fantastic crag for the 5.12 leader, with plenty of moderates as well; it's bound to be a popular place.
Approach via the Cathedral Trail. Just before arriving at the second bench, look for a concealed climbers' trail off left behind an aspen. Follow this to its terminus: you've arrived at Sonar Wall.
