Description
Short trad formations, a few sport climbs, and many boulders scatter the hillsides.
Please respect the local ways, practice Leave No Trace, and be mindful. Thanks.
Climbing in GVL goes back to 80’s resident Steve Untch and the earliest days of the Rim of the World Climbing Club crew, and perhaps even prior to as hinted at by the few rusty knifeblade pitons encountered.
Over the last decade many good boulder problems have been developed.
Access Issues:
Some forestry road gates are closed.
Please do not drive around the gates, be a good example, and help prevent further access issues. Thanks.
Please be respectful. Some areas while in the National Forest are very close to homes and backyards.

Getting There
Head east along Hwy 18, towards Big Bear, past the town of Running Springs. Shortly after the town of Arrowbear, take a sharp left at the "Green Valley Lake" sign to head up to the lake, which has a visible dam structure at its west end. About a mile after the dam, turn left onto Forest Road 2N13 to head east.
Low Maintenance Rock, Designated Area Pinnacles, Natural Resources Rock, and High Profile Pinnacle are about 0.7 mile down 2N13.
At a Y-junction at the 1 mile mark, 2N13 continues left (indicated as 2N13i in book) toward Thin Things and Mr SB (high clearance), with 2N13d (no longer 2N19 as indicated in book) splitting to the right. The latter leads past roadside parkings for Big Mamma and Bleeding Wall (sedan accessible) and goes all the way to Crafts Peak (high clearance).
See Hidden Treasures 2002 for more details.
