Description

This encompasses the area northeast of the town of Green Valley Lake and features over a dozen pinnacles and spires. Those looking for climbing with a distinct summit with no easy way to the top have found the right place!

Getting There

Starting from the junction of Green Valley Lake Road and Forest Road 2N13 drive 0.5 miles to intersect 2N54 and the start of the pinnacles.

See the individual formations for more detailed approach information.

There are two more pinnacles that have decent (but short) climbing potential off of 2N13 before you get to the main area listed here. I was visiting friends in the area and spent a day top rope soloing off of fairly decent natural anchors with a cordalette and long slings. Would be better to have some fist and up friends. Both have simple approaches and are visible from the first obvious parking area (34.248549, -117.065465) once you start up 2N13 proper before you get to the intersection with 2N54

I'm hesitant to add them because I'm not a local and don't have a guide book to know if they have been named. Neither had any evidence of climbing activity but with some cleaning would be nice mostly fists to thin off widths climbs to learn on.

34.248457, -117.067416 (closer to road) approach from top (or deal with the really spikey brush to the face) multiple potential routes I did the left two offwidth-y cracks which were interesting. Maybe 25'?

34.250302, -117.067928 (descend from parking area down the most obvious downward path towards 2N54, then find preferred trail to formation). 5th class climbing on the northwest facing side. You can work around to the face or do a short 3rd class on the back can setup a top rope anchor on the climbers left side of the formation which would let you work an obvious 30ish foot low angle offwidth that would be perfect if you wanted to teach someone off width climbing and gear placements with a great view. You can pretty much climb all over the thing depending your interest. Be careful of a few loose blocks near the top. I couldn't figure out how to gain the climbers right summit in a safe way but there is other potential there if you are bored. There is what looks like a really nice face climb towards climbers right. Dec 19, 2017
