Description
**13,757 ft (4,193 m)**
Not a dramatic-looking peak, but massive and high over the center of the Little Lakes Valley -- and not as far from Parking as most other of the higher peaks of that area.
. . (There is another "Mt Morgan" on the east side of the Sierra mountains, but
. . . that one is a ways farther north -- not in the Little Lakes Valley area).
The "normal" route for hiking (or backcountry skiing) is up the broad (mostly non-steep) valley NNE from the summit through Francis Lake - GPS latitude longitude approx (N37.4334 W118.7183).
The shorter way from summer parking is the NW face of the N ridge, but that face is steep and unstable -- fairly nasty for +1250 vertical feet -- so not recommended or often attempted.
Interesting for climbing is the SW Ridge, with a (not so nasty) approach to its base from summer parking -- or it can be done as a continuation of the interesting climbing traverse of Little Lakes Peak by its NNW Ridge and NE Ridge.

Getting There
Driving: Take rt 395 to Tom's Place (between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes), then Upper Rock Creek road west and south.
Parking:
- Summer trailhead is at the end of the road at Mosquito Flat - GPS latitude longitude approx (N37.4354 W118.7469).
- Late Spring fishing + backcountry skiing trailhead is at the Pack Station (N37.4525 W118.7420).
- Winter trailhead is near the East Fork junction (SnoPark permit required) - around (N37.4942 W118.7180).
Hiking access in late spring and summer for the "normal" route can be handled by
parking near Rock Creek Lake ? (N37.4541 W118.7343) ? and taking trail at first roughly East.
But Mosquito Flat parking is closer, so that might be used especially for accessing the SW Ridge route.
