This area has peaks and multi-pitch rock routes in the Aiguilles Rouges range above the northwest side of the Chamonix valley.

It is north of the the Index area of the Aiguilles Rouges.

The highest summit of the Aiguilles Rouges is Mont Buet (GPS lat long approx N46.0246 E6.8526) - (elevation 3096 meters).

Getting There Suggest change

Climbing routes in the Index area are usually reached by hiking and scrambling up from somewhere near the railroad station of Le Buet (GPS lat long approx N46.0191 E6.9204) - (elevation 1340 meters). This station gets regular train service to and from Chamonix Mont Blanc.
