Description
Deep in the wilderness above Donner Lake lie a number of large granite boulders. The two main boulders are the Black Wall and Saddle Boulder. These boulders house a substantial amount of problems from V0 to V12.
More problems and information can be found in the "Bouldering Lake Tahoe: North/West Shore Edition" guidebook or at the following link: wikiboulder.com/guides/guid…

Getting There
There two primary options:
1. Climbers may park at the entrance of the old railway tunnels and trek out to the boulders.
2. Follow Cold Stream Road to the parking area GPS: N 39 17.920 W 120 17.620. 4-wheel vehicles might make it all the way. Other vehicles will have to stop early and walk the rest of the way. Detailed directions - Pick up Cold Stream Road past the gravel pits. Follow a wide dirt road to a large pond on the left. Reset odometer at a wooden sign. After 1.4 miles, go through a tunnel that goes under the train tracks. There will be a single switchback at .2 miles. After another .4 miles cross a small creek and turn left. Go for another .8 (the road gets very rough here), then turn right. Go .3, turn left. Then go .1 and parking area is on the right.
Once at the "parking area" however the boulders are just a short jaunt into the woods.
Previously, the area was accessible by the old train tunnels; however, those are no longer open to motor vehicles.
