Description Suggest change

Bottle Glass is a small sport / trad area between the main Rattlesnake Point wall and Buffalo Crag. Its name comes from the shards of glass scattered around the base of the cliff due to the practices of local teens and drunks. Keep this in mind when selecting foot ware for your visit. It sits in the sun year round making it great for early and late season climbing. This area is less crowded than the main wall or BC, but can be busy on weekends. It has the only sport routes at Rattlesnake. You will often find instructors teaching in this area.

The cliff is rather short in this area ranging from high-ball boulder problem to a little over your typical gym wall. The rock is typical escarpment limestone but is less polished here than at the main wall.

Bring a stick-clip as the first bolts on some of the routes are rather high.

This area is great for a quick climbing session, or for finishing your day with quick sport climbs, but the diminutive stature of the cliff and small number of routes will limit the amount of time you will want to spend here.

Getting There Suggest change

If you park at the lower parking lot your approach is around 50m total starting at the trail head sign. Start at the sign and head towards the cliff (south from the sign). You will come to a stone barrier wall, head roughly 5m right (east) of the edge of this wall and you will find an easy down climb. Note that the vista adventure trail continues down the slope further east. The down-climb is at the top of this slope.

There is a second access, a 5th class scramble, all the way to the west of the climbing area (marked by signs on the face) which is reasonable for exiting the area. Down-climbing here is not recommended.
