Description

The closest area for climbing in the Halifax area. This is an urban crag, with all of the graffitti and garbage. It has three separate small cliffs. On the plus side you can get thereby public transit and a bit of walking/

Getting There

From Halifax take the Bedford Highway to Bedford. To Get to the Schoolroom, turn right on Hatchery Lane and go under the railway bridge. Turn Left on Shore Dr. and follow the road along until you get to the Admiral Cove Park sign. Park on the East side of the road (not in the pullout.) Follow the trail up the hill and to the left for about 15 minutes. To get to the Main Cliff and the Back Slabs, turn at the Chicken Burger in Bedford onto Highway 7. Turn right on Golf Links Road and gear left onto Eaglewood Dr. Tuirn right on Condor Rd and immediately left onto Snowy Owl Drive. Park ion the dead and lane immediately to the right and follow the trail to the top of the Main Cliffs. There are several short tiers, so it takes a bit to find your way around. You can get to the bottom by going down the garbage laden scree slope nat the East end of the cliffs, but it is easier to go to the far West end and walk back along the base. To get to the Back Slabs, follow a trail to the left from the far West end of the Main Cliff.

Not really a destination, this is a typical urban crag with graffiti and trash - just like some crags at home. But, I was staying in Bedford so got to do a little climbing one morning.

Looks like someone is developing this area as I saw some bolts and anchors. Photos would be good to help identify routes. Since there were none, I thought I get it started Jul 6, 2018
