Description
Lake Mead Buttress is the last big cliff in the La Madre Mts on the east end. It's the 800' dark grey limestone cliff that looms up large at the west end of Lake Mead Blvd, which is how it got the name. Also of interest here is a large beautiful agave roasting pit on the slope just below the cliff.
Getting There
Lake Mead Buttress can be seen very prominently from the west end of Lake Mead Blvd. From the end of LM Blvd, or the next nearest desert access, take dirt roads as close as you can. Because of construction access may vary. The last time I was out there the construction security guards were very helpful in directing me to the dirt roads into the wilderness.
