Description

South facing slabs, west of Hammer Dome. Not visited by many climbers. On Memorial weekend, my climbing partner and I had this area to ourselves. Some of the hardware is suspect 1/4" button head bolts. Some of it is newer 3/8". Routes here can be toproped by scrambling, west along the base of the dome, and then up and east toward the top and rapping down. Bring gear or webbing for anchors at the top.

Look out for poison oak.

Getting There

Follow directions to Calaveras Dome. There is a bridge across Cole Creek, about 13.3 miles from highway 88. Turn left on a dirt forest road, just before the bridge. Follow this road a short distance to a parking area next to the aqueduct. Follow the aqueduct, east, for 15 minutes, to the wood bridge crossing.

Cross the bridge and hike uphill about 10 minutes to the base of Silver Streak Slab, S.S.S., or Silver Streak.
