Description
The Salten area offers varied climbing. There are bolted crags, multi-pitch trad routes and numerous frozen water falls in the winter time. Weather is suitable for ice climbing from January to April, and depending on the weather, the outdoor season lasts from April to late September.
The rock in the area is predominantly granite and offers great friction in the dry season.

Getting There
You can fly directly to Bodø from Oslo and Trondheim, and this is normally where you go for a transfer flight to Lofoten. Once in Bodø, some of the climbing areas are accessible by bike (Norsia) while others are accessible by public transport and boat. A rental car is very much recommended. Most of the climbs are only a short hike (10-20 minutes) from the road, although some are more challenging.
