Description
Excellent local climbing crag. Interloken area guidebook calls it the "best tough sport climbing in the area" but Gimmelwald actually includes a good mix of routes, with many 5.10 rated routes in Sector B. All routes are very generously bolted.
Rock is clean limestone. In several areas small protrusions exist in the rock that make for excellent holds (especially for feet), making steep routes easier than they appear from the ground.

Getting There
From the far end of the village of Gimmelwald, begin hiking down the large dirt road to Schilbach. About .7 kilometers down the path, you'll cross over a bridge (with a pretty impressive waterfall). Another 100 meters down the trail you'll come to a bench, with a sign for the "Klettergarten" to the right and uphill. You can follow this trail which follows the hillside gradually to the climbing area. Alternatively, another 500 meters down the road, past the cabin at the turn in the road (keep going straight), there is another steeper trail right between the two main climbing sectors ("A" and "B")
