Access Issue: Unclimbed Cliff Closure Details

This is the unclimbed cliff that lies north of False Paradise.

All climbing routes, cliff rim, and campsites within the marked area on the map (see USFS website) are closed to entry. No camping or foot traffic above or below the cliff in this section. Climbers; this is not the main climbing area at Short Off.

Description

This is a small steep cliff that is located above the main walls at Shortoff. With super easy access and a flat grassy ledge below, it's a nice place to hang out in the afternoon sun and get in a few extra pitches at the end of the day. Most routes require either topping out or building a temporary TR anchor at the top - which can be cleaned on the hike out.

The wall is located toward the southern end of the mountain, roughly above Construction job and south. In fact, most folks in the know actually approach the routes below this way as well, saving a lot of time on the standard gully descent and hike along the base. If you do this, the upper wall is even more convenient to climb on the way out at the end of the day.

Getting There

Very easy. As soon as you arrive at the top of the cliff (just above the new rock steps) locate a foot trail that leads down to the overlook, which is the top of the wall. Wander around left to get to the bottom.
