Hurrungane is an important site for alpine and mountaineering in Norway. The 3rd highest mountain in Norway, Store Skagastølstind (2405moh), forms the natural highpoint in this relatively small area with a very high density of alpine >2000meter peaks.

Getting There Suggest change

Easiest accessed by the RV55, 30min east of Skjolden, or west from Lom. RV55 is closed in the winter. Many use Turtagrø Hotel as a base camp for trips to Hurrungane.

Approaches can be long.
