We only had one day to climb while we were in Nairobi. None the less, we stopped by the climbing gym BLUE SKY to see if we could get someone to show us a local crag. We were directed to SAM NGISE, who graciously obliged and accompanied us to LUKENYA. This was particularly fortunate for us, as one needs to arrange entrance with the caretaker, with whom Sam is friends! For convenience he suggested the NEMESIS crag, which is easily accessible single pitch sport climbing. The rock is compact and well featured and of excellent quality. While Nemesis crag is small, the scope of what's available in Lukenya is large. The quality of rock is second only to the quality of the people you will find here. Sam was GREAT! The caretaker was GREAT! We even got the driver we hired for the day to try climbing for his first time! He too was GREAT (as a person, not a climber, haha)! If you're in the area and you have the time...go. You won't be disappointed. Nov 1, 2015
