Description Suggest change

Blue Crag is a large dark peak visible throughout most of the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Poised above Sky Meadows, the couloirs around it have long been a destination for backcountry skiers. Not much is known about the climbing history of the peak.

The rock is hard and fairly solid. The main wall is north facing and does not get very much sun. As an alpine peak, be prepared for quickly changing weather conditions in any season.

Getting There Suggest change

The easiest access is out of the Coldwater Creek Campground via the Emerald Lake trailhead to Sky Meadows. It is roughly two miles from the start of the trail to the base of Blue Crag. In winter the road to Coldwater Creek Campground is groomed for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There is an access route on the groomed trails to Coldwater Creek Campground.
