Description
A box canyon with an old shoreline cap rock at the end. Few people visit this little spot though there are some archaeological interests as you walk up this short canyon. The sea rock itself is harder than the sandstone that makes the canyon. Climbing on old Sea Urchin pockets make this a bit fun. Most of the routes are now bolted and there are more than mountain project describes. Probably 10-15 routes 5.8- 5.12 ish
Getting There
3 miles west of Escalante on HW 12, just across and south of a closed gate to the Slot Canyons Inn. Park just across from the “watch for ice“ sign
Go in to the canyon left (east) of the wash, it turns uphill and left into steeper terrain, head up until you find a tunnel slot. Most of the climbs are around a stand alone island of rock in a dead end canyon headwall.
