Description

In German, "Wand" means wall and "chen" is a suffix which makes the object small, so Wändchen means "small wall". The name is therefore very fitting.
Great short routes which climb up huge jugs. Nearly every route has a bit of overhang to it, and the approach is 2 minutes! This is fantastic! The routes are pretty much all moderates, with a couple of easy ones in there as well. Also, as the crag faces Southwest and West, it gets a fair bit of sun, making it a great cool-weather crag. It also dries quickly after a rain, but the roofs aren't big enough to protect you should it start to pour.

Getting There

The Steinfelder Wändchen has a different parking area for it, and is detailed in its own section. To access the other crags in this area, travel from wherever you're coming from to Steinfeld. If you're coming from Nürnberg, take the A73 north to Bamberg, then the A70 East towards Bayreuth. Exit at Exit 19 and take a right towards Roßdorf. After a short while you will see a sign pointing to your right to Steinfeld. Turn here. After about 1.7km you'll see the crag on your left and a parking area right in front of it. Park here and walk up to the crag.
