Getting weather forecast...

Large granite cliffs with 6 or 7 bolted routes. Overall the rock quality is pretty good, but like many places on Belle Isle could use some serious cleaning. Some of the routes can be executed as highballs if you dont feel like setting up ropes. Some of the faces have climbing holds attatched to the wall, be careful on these as some of them are very loose and spin around. This area can get pretty busy in the summer so if you like to climb in peace, wait till it gets cold. As mentioned on the main page for the island, the snow storm in January caused a very large flake to break off, taking the chains with it, so be careful and check for loose rocks and holds. The top can be accessed via a bike trail, but setting up your ropes can be very sketchy. Sadly the area has been covered in trash and spray paint, so take a trash bag and if you see trash please pick up what you can. Currently there are no access issues.

Getting There

Follow the main trail upriver and the quarry will be on your left, you can't miss it.

Some info on the area:

The holds on the walls are (I believe) for Passages camp, meant to make the walls fun for the elementary to middle school campers. They don't really affect any of the good routes, so you can just ignore them.

While there are a couple of leads, most routes must be top-roped. Some anchors are very difficult to reach by foot, so nine times out of ten I would suggest rappelling down to them.

There are a lot of anchors on this wall, many of them are terrible routes and should be ignored. Just keep in mind that if you can't see a good line up the route, there probably isn't one. Typically, the further down the path you go, the better the climbing gets. Jun 2, 2012

Wow... yeah, thanks for the info James Sep 15, 2011
they are plastic bolt ons. I would be extremely careful though because they really do spin and are just waiting to be ripped out. Sep 15, 2011

Yeah, I know the whole place is the result of quarry "manufacturing" but its pretty silly to bolt on holds to a rock face... did he chip out holds or bolt plastic ones? Jun 30, 2011
What weaksauce. A Peak Experiences employee told me he had manufactured a hard route up there, but that shit is just tragic. C'mon,'re better than that. Jun 29, 2011
