Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
Murphy Creek is a great little crag that has something to offer for everyone. There are dozens of crack climbs ranging from a fun 5.7 double crack called Frogger to some much stiffer 5.11 finger crack and top rope problems. Top of cliff is easily accessible from climbers right to set up top ropes (most require gear anchors). This could be be a great place to avoid the crowds and get out of the Valley during the hot summer months.
Getting There
Located on Highway 120 across from Tenaya lake is the Murphy Creek trailhead. This easy 1.5 mile hike will take you to wide open granite slabs and the crag will be obvious as it's the only sheer cliff in view. From here find your way cross country to the base of the cliff. A small creek crossing might be tricking in the early season and dry in late season.
