Description

Just outside of Joshua Tree Nat. Park, on the outskirts of the town of Joshua Tree, is Coyote Hole. This has long been the local bouldering area, and there are a few roped climbs as well. Is it a secret place guarded by locals, or just off the beaten path and over-shadowed by so many climbs and boulder problems in the Nat. Park. There are many Native American pictographs down in the canyon as well. Being so close to town, it has seen it's share of abuse from vandals, hobos, illigal dump site, grafetti artists, and the like, but the place is still an awesome area of cool boulders and winding desert paths. Well worth the time to check out and explore. There is a small " underground" guide to the boulder problems floating around. Careful where you park and walk as to not tresspass on private property.

Getting There

From the town of Joshua Tree, this is the canyon off to the left as you drive up Park Ave toward the Nat. Park.
